pay per click

Pay per click refers to the payment for performance business model that Google so readily employs for it’s AdWords. AdWords are the paid for inclusion on the Google search engine usually to the top and right hand side of the natural search results.

7SEO organise AdWords campaigns on behalf of their customers. We charge a set-up fee and a monthly management fee. Many businesses dabble with AdWords and are surprised at how quickly there money disappears with very little to show for it. Google is after all a commercial company and they don’t make it easy for you to manage your campaign efficiently.

The number one mistake most AdWords newbies make is not placing a bid limit for keywords. To give you an idea of how this works. Google publishes the PPC amount at say 1.50 per click. This means that if you pay this amount you are probably going to appear right at the top of the AdWords listings and Google will charge you 1.50 a click. However, if you sacrifice the top position then you can usually get good traffic for much less and you can manage position within AdWords as well and Google will ‘try’ and get you your preferred position given the budget available. This is called a preferred position strategy and can save a lot of money. Pay-per-click is not exclusively Google as there are many search engines that offer a similar business model for instance Facebook.

Facebook, like Google has small text and picture ads to the right of the window and like Google these ads can be targeted at potential customers. Facebook Pay-per-click campaigns can work out very well for businesses working in niches as with Facebook advertisers can target the Facebook community with particular interests. If you had a product thatwas targeted at customers who had just had a baby then it would be possible to target that specific group and their friends!
